Durban City have advanced to the second round of the Nedbank Cup after they defeated Chippa United 3-2 on penalties at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Friday evening.

This match was decided on spot kicks after the two sides had failed to score in 120 minutes of football. The penalty shootout had to go to sudden death as the teams were tied 2-2 after they kicked their respective five penalties.

Durban City have now joined Mamelodi Sundowns, Stellenbosch FC and Vasco da Gama, who have all made it to the last-16 of the competition. Vasco da Gama reached the second round following a 4-1 victory over Luthuli Brigades on Friday.
