Award-winning boxing trainer Khangelani Jack is going to man Siphamandla Baleni’s corner when the erstwhile South African champion clashes with Filipino boxer Regie Suganob in a fortnight’s time.

Mthatha-born Baleni, a former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) minimumweight title contender, clashes with Suganob at Tagbilaran City in Bohol, Philippines, on Saturday, 28 February.

“Khangelani Jack is going to travel to the Philippines together with me. He’s going to be in my corner,” the former SA minimumweight and junior-flyweight champion confirmed.

Baleni and Jack, a 2023 Trainer of the Year award winner, go a very long way as they have worked together before while they were both part of the Xaba Boxing Academy in KuGompo City.

Meanwhile, Suganob is the same boxer who lost to Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight title contest at the International Convention Centre (ICC), KuGompo City, in July 2023.

The 28-year-old Suganob from Bohol comes highly regarded as he’s rated sixth by the World Boxing Council (WBC), fifth in the IBF ratings and third in the World Boxing Organisation (WBO). – Monwabisi Jimlongo
