Mamelodi Sundowns overcame Orlando Pirates 2-1 in a Betway Premiership match played at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on Wednesday evening. 

The Brazilians shot to the lead when Colombian Brayan León netted in the 36th minute following a pass from Nuno Santos. Four minutes later, León completed his brace from a Maphosa Modiba assist to give the Tshwane giants a 2-0 lead at half-time. 

Three minutes into the second half, the Buccaneers halved the deficit when Patrick Maswanganyi’s took a deflection before the ball kissed the back of the net.

And following this victory, the Brazilians are now three points behind Pirates, who are on top of the Premiership table with 38 points. 

Meanwhile, Stellenbosch FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Magesi FC in another Betway Premiership clash played at thr Danie Craven Stadium in the Cape Winelands.

Stellies scored first through Langelihle Phili in the 35th minute and Samuel Darpoh equalised for Magesi seven minutes later.
