Boxing fans will have to wait a little longer before they can watch former South African and world champion Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni’s last dance inside the ring.
Ground Up Sports Promotions announced on Wednesday morning that the Saturday, 21 March tournament where Ndongeni was going to have his last fight in the professional ranks has been postponed to May. The tournament was scheduled for the Jan Smuts Stadium in KuGompo City.
“Ground Up Promotions remains fully committed to delivering a landmark sporting event. We anticipate a sold-out arena and a memorable celebration of Ndongeni’s illustrious career,” Ground Up Promotions boss Loyiso Magqaza said.
KwaBhaca-born Ndongeni, an erstwhile SA and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) lightweight champion, decided to hang up his gloves following a second round stoppage loss to Colombian boxer Jhon Elin Orobio Siniesta in Montreal Canada, last November.
