A successful 2021 where she promoted four tournaments with the fifth being postponed after positive COVID-19 tests, has motivated South Africa’s most active promoter Joyce Kungwane to do more for boxing this year.
The TLB Boxing Promotions boss has lined up three tournaments in three successive months. Kungwane will promote tournaments this month, in March and in April.
“We took a break in January. February, March, April, I checked the history of boxing, I don’t remember any promoter doing that, not that I’m bragging,” Kungwane said.
Kungwane’s first tournament of the year is going to be held at the Kagiso Memorial Centre on Sunday, 27 February. The tournament is headlined by a World Boxing Federation (WBF) Africa junior-middleweight bout between Junior Makondo and Jacques Muvud from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
South African female lightweight title holder Kholosa Ndobayini faces Windhoek-based Zimbabwe boxer Cecilia Pitiseni in an international bout and Gauteng lightweight champion Khaya Busakwe is billed to square up against Talent Baloyi in a provincial title defence.
Other bouts:
