Mzuvukile ‘Old Bones’ Magwaza proved that ring rust is just a myth as he stopped then unbeaten Sanele Maduna at The Galleria in Johannesburg on Thursday evening.
Having last fought in December 2017, Magwaza, who was shot by thugs in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, in January 2018, stepped into the ring hoping to make an impression against Maduna.
He did make an impression as he decked Ladysmith-born Maduna with a right hand in the second round. Fight referee David van Niewenhuizen waved off signalling the end of the proceedings much to the joy of Magwaza’s corner.
The Duncan Village-born Magwaza improved his record to 21 wins with 12 stoppages and three draws while Maduna dropped to four victories (two knockouts), a loss and a draw.
