Mdantsane boxer Asanda ‘Dynamite’ Gingqi is set to make the third defence of his South African featherweight title in two months’ time.
The 28-year-old Gingqi is going to make a mandatory defence when he trades leather with Jeff Magagane from Johannesburg on Sunday, 24 September.
“Ja, I have signed to defend my title against Magagane in September,” unbeaten Gingqi, who is trained by Khangelani Jack, confirmed.
Already, Gingqi has defended the national title twice since winning it in a fight against Abdul-Aziz Kunert in September last year.
In his first defence of the title, Gingqi stopped Sithembiso Maduna from Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, in the 11th round at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) in March.
Two months later, Gingqi went on to successfully defend his crown for the second time when he outpointed his stablemate Zolisa Batyi at the same East London venue.
