September is set to become a busy month for Johannesburg-based boxing trainer Alan Toweel, who is going to be involved in three title fights with his boxers.
Firstly, Toweel will usher Tshifhiwa ‘Atomic Spider’ Munyai to battle when he defends his South African lightweight title against former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) featherweight champion Lusanda ‘Mexican’ Komanisi on Saturday, 17 September. The clash, which is going to be Munyai’s fourth title defence, is scheduled for the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park.
Eight days later, Toweel will be manning Jeff Magagane’s corner when he attempts to dethrone reigning SA featherweight champion Asanda Gingqi, who will be seeking a third successful title defence.
The third corner duty for Toweel in one month will be when SA minimumweight titlist Bangile Nyangani makes the second defence of his national crown on Thursday, 29 September.
