Gaveni Nkwenteni from Santa in East London is scheduled to go toe-to-toe with reigning South African minimumweight champion Bangile Nyangani next week.
The collision between the two Eastern Cape boxers is set for The Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Thursday, 22 September.
The 31-year-old Nkwenteni, who is trained by Ntsikelelo Matikinca, is based in Johannesburg after leaving East London last year.
Already, the highly-rated Nyangani has made one successful defence of his SA title – a unanimous decision win over Loyiso Ngantweni from Mqanduli during a one-sided fight in April.
Nyangani from Bityi in Mthatha won the national crown after he outpointed Mdantsane’s Siyakholwa Kuse in East London in July last year.
