Jacksom Chauke’s dominance over Eastern Cape opponents continued at The Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Thursday evening.
This came after Chauke successfully defended his South African flyweight title with a victory over Sinethemba Kotana.
Tembisa-based Chauke has now beaten three Eastern Cape boxers, who tried to dethrone him. Sihle Jelwana, Luyanda Ntwanambe and now Kotana have all failed to bring Chauke’s reign to an end.
A fourth Eastern Cape boxer Phumelela Cafu only managed to get a draw against Chauke when he attempted to dethrone him.
The 37-year-old Chauke used his experience as he scored with nice body shots against a courageous Kotana, who started well during the fight. Kotana from Mdantsane tried his best, but his best was not enough to upstage a determined Chauke.
Meanwhile, Bangile Nyangani cruised to a unanimous decision win over Gaveni Nkwenteni in the main supporting bout.
This was a one-sided affair where Nyangani from Mthatha schooled Nkwenteni to earn his second successful defence of his SA minimumweight title.
