It was a bright start for Banyana Banyana as they walloped Uzbekistan 3-0 in their opening match in the Turkish Women’s Cup at the Emirhan Sport Complex in Antalya, Türkiye, on Saturday evening.
Banyana took the lead when Jermaine Seoposenwe scored following a Hilda Magaia pass from a move, which was initiated by Noxolo Cesane in the 10th minute. Three minutes later, Banyana increased their lead through an own goal by Uzbekistan defender Tojiddinova Shokida.
Gabriela Salgado passed to Magaia whose shot was blocked by Uzbekistan goalkeeper Kumushoy Gulomova and Cesane scored Banyana’s third goal from the rebound in the 25th minute.
Meanwhile, Banyana are going to play their second match of the tournament against Slovenia at the same venue in Antalya on Tuesday.
