All Winners Boxing Club manager Mlandeli Tengimfene has cleared the air regarding Beaven Sibanda being ‘dropped’ as Siyakholwa Kuse’s opponent for next month’s tournament.
Boxing followers in Johannesburg were shocked when it was announced that Kuse was going to face off against Khalid Kalama Ally from Tanzania.
They had thought that a fight between Kuse and Sibanda was a done deal as the Zimbabwean was hard at work preparing to clash against the current South African minimumweight champion.
“Yes, we approached Sibanda after we were told that Kuse’s opponent from Tanzania had no passport. However, things changed as soon as the Tanzanian secured a passport and we informed Sibanda’s camp about the latest developments,” Tengimfene said.
Kuse clashes with the Tanzanian in an African Boxing Union (ABU) mini-flyweight title contest at the Thobi Kula Sport Centre in Komani on Sunday, 3 December.
The award-winning Tengimfene has insisted that Kuse and the unbeaten Sibanda, who has won all his six fights with two of them being stoppages, will meet one day.
“The door is not closed on a possible fight between Kuse and Sibanda. They are going to face each other one day,” Tengimfene concluded.
