Disagreements over how things should be done and the way forward in Nhlanhla ‘Mount Kilimanjaro’ Tyirha’s boxing career have forced the former South African junior-flyweight champion to change camps.
After negotiations between his manager Thembelani ‘Shakes’ Hlombe and Boxing5 Promotions collapsed regarding a fight against Mfanuvele Ntuli, Tyirha has now left Phumzile ‘Sweet Chocolate” Matyhila and teamed up with Vusi Mtolo as his new trainer.
The fight against Ntuli was scheduled for Friday, 8 March, at the Box Camp Booysens in Johannesburg.
“Yes, I can confirm that I have moved to Vusi Mtolo’s gym and I have been training under him for two weeks now,” Tyirha said.
Tyirha is yet to fight since his shock eighth round stoppage loss to Malawian boxer George Kandulo at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) in July last year. The loss came at a heavy price for Tyirha as it resulted in him losing his ratings in the world’s top four boxing bodies.
