Zizi Kodwa has resigned as Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture with immediate effect after he appeared in court on corruption charges on Wednesday.
Gugulethu-born Kodwa appeared at the Palm Ridge Commercial Crimes Court for allegedly getting a R1,6 million bribe.
“Mr Kodwa has informed the president that he will resign as Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture and member of the Cabinet after being formally charged,” a statement said on Wednesday afternoon.
Born Ncediso Goodenough Kodwa, he had been a Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture since his appointment to the position succeeding Nathi Mthethwa in March last year.
