Ntethelelo ‘Baby G’ Nkosi is fearing nothing as he faces unbeaten Colombian boxer Carlos Alfonso Utria Lopez in the penultimate round of the WBC Grand Prix in Riydah, Saudi Arabia, this coming Sunday.
Nkosi clashes with Utria in the WBC Grand Prix junior-welterweight semi-finals at the Theatre Boulevard Riyadh City in Riyadh after doing very well in the last three rounds. The former South African junior-welterweight titlist is just two wins away from being crowned the competition’s champion in his division.
“We are leaving on Wednesday and I’m going there to fight. We have done our best at training while preparing for this fight. I will be fighting against a good opponent, but I’m not afraid of the guy,” Nkosi remarked.
Mtubatuba-born Nkosi defeated Fiorenzo Priolo from Italy, Chinese Ju Wu and Marwan Mohammad Madboly from Egypt in the previous three rounds of the competition. Nkosi will take a record of 10 wins with five knockouts and two defeats to the Utria fight.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old unbeaten Utria, who has won all his 12 fights, with 10 of those wins coming from stoppages, has beaten Spencer Wilcox, Alan David Crenz and Elianel Guerrero.
