Following her win over Caleigh Swart at the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, in August, champion boxer Simamkele Tutsheni has committed herself to Golden Gloves on a two-year contract.

Tutsheni, who is based in Langa, Cape Town, defeated Swart on points to claim the then vacant International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Africa female junior-featherweight title two months ago.

Already rated 15th by the IBO, the unbeaten Tutsheni will now make a come back at a Golden Gloves tournament in Kempton Park early next year.

“I believe she can be a special talent. She has real class. I’m very impressed with her potential and Golden Gloves will guide her to an ultimate world title. However, she needs more experience and I’ll make sure her talent is fully rewarded,” Golden Gloves managing director Rodney Berman remarked.

Tutsheni, a part-time firefighter at the City of Cape Town, has won all her eight fights with three of those wins coming from knockouts.
