Rated 10th by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) after dropping five places compared to last month’s ratings, Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga will make a welcome return to action next month.
Nontshinga’s return was revealed by Boxing 5 Promotions chief executive officer Larry Wainstein on Tuesday morning. Nontshinga faces Namibian flyweight champion Jonas Erastus at the Box Camp Booysens in Johannesburg on Saturday, 15 November.
The 26-year-old Nontshinga has not laced his gloves since he lost his IBF junior-flyweight title to Japanese boxer Yabuki Masamichi via a ninth round stoppage in Japan a year ago.
A two-time IBF junior-flyweight champion, Nontshinga from East London in the Eastern Cape has been sweating buckets at the Hot Box Gym, preparing for the Erastus fight.
Meanwhile, Erastus, who has nine wins with two stoppages and a loss, lost to Briton Alfie Clegg at the York Hall Bethnal Green in the United Kingdom four months ago.
