In only his fourth fight in the professional ranks, Ayabulela Xatyana showed character and more hunger as he annexed the Eastern Cape title on Saturday evening.
Xatyana became new Eastern Cape junior-featherweight champion after he stopped Sanele Magwaza at the Lillian Ngoyi Hall in KwaZakhele, Gqeberha.
The lad from Ncera village in East London overwhelmed Magwaza and decked him on two occasions. And after being on the receiving end of many telling blows, Magwaza didn’t answer to the bell at the beginning of the ninth round.
Meanwhile, Lubabalo Kweyi successfully defended his Eastern Cape junior-lightweight title following a first round technical knockout victory over Bandile Daniels.
