Stellenbosch FC had a positive start to their CAF Confederation Cup group stages campaign as they defeated AS Otohô from Congo 1-0 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday afternoon.

Second half substitute Ashley Cupido scored the only goal of the match after he sneaked in behind the Congolose club’s defence in referee’s added time to give Stellies much-needed three points.

Cupido, a former Cape Town Spurs forward, joined the fray when he replaced Muzomuhle Khanyi in the 65th minute.
