After leaving Xaba Boxing Academy where he was training, International Boxing Federation (IBF) Intercontinental and South African junior-flyweight champion Siseko ‘Panda’ Teyisi has found a new trainer in Khangelani Jack.
That the unbeaten Teyisi has joined forces with Jack, the 2023 Trainer of the Year award recipient and former Xaba Boxing Academy mentor, was confirmed by the boxer’s manager Bongani Bozo.
Initially, Teyisi found himself without a trainer after he bolted out of Xaba Promotions following a contractual dispute. Previously, Teyisi was guided by Mnyamezeli ‘Fire’ Shosha as his trainer.
“We’ve got a new trainer now as Jack has agreed to train Siseko. Siseko’s level is up and Jack fully understands that we have to up our game in as far as training is concerned,” Bozo said.
Bozo added: “Jack will remain the head trainer even though there are other people who are going to be involved in Siseko’s training. We will also do other things as well to make sure that Siseko is ready when the time comes for his next fight.”
Jack said about working with Teyisi: “I can confirm that we have agreed on everything with Teyisi and we will start training together on Monday.”
Teyisi, a southpaw from Mdantsane, has won all his nine fights, having stopped seven of his victims. His last victim was Athenkosi Thongwana whom he stopped in the 12th round at the Orient Theatre in East London less than a month ago. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
