Just over a month since joining the Brian Mitchell Boxing Academy in Edenvale, Sanele ‘V16’ Sogcwayi will now begin his international career as he has now lined up a fight against Tomas Shifiona from Windhoek, Namibia.

The former amateur star, who made his professional debut in March last year, and Shifiona are slated to test each other’s fistic skills at the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, on Saturday, 28 March.

Mdantsane-born Sogcwayi will go to battle against Shifiona following a win over former South African junior-bantamweight champion Sabelo Ngebiyane in Cape Town last October while the Namibian drew with Ismaeel Kadri in Pretoria in November.

This is going to be the 29-year-old Shifiona’s fifth fight against a South African boxer. He has won once, lost once and drawn twice against South African opponents.

Sogcwayi, who is trained by Manny Fernandes, is unbeaten having won all his four fights with two of those wins coming from knockouts. On the other hand, Shifiona has eight wins with two stoppages, three defeats and five draws.
