As Nkosingiphile Sibisi is preparing for the fourth defence of his South African flyweight title, he’s aiming to repeat what he did to Njabulo Buthelezi in July 2023.

Sibisi is set to defend his national crown when he fights against Buthelezi at the Howick Indoor Sports Centre in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday, 18 December.

Buthelezi’s handlers were unhappy with how the judges saw the fight after he lost to Sibisi as they believed that he had done enough to win the bout. Sibisi beat Buthelezi on points during their clash at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall.

“It’s not like that. It was just an excuse. I’m not even worried about him. I will show him who I am now because I’m a different person to the one he met last time when we were fighting for the KZN title. I’m gonna smash him so bad this time,” Sibisi said.

Unbeaten in 12 fights, having won all of them with two of those wins coming from knockouts, Sibisi from Dannhauser in the Amajuba District Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal, has successfully defended his SA title against Samkelo Frank Sotomela, Zolile Miya and Theo Nxayiphi. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
