The process to appoint seven members, who will serve on the board of
Boxing South Africa (BSA) for three years, is drawing closer to an end.
At least 12 candidates – Doctor Kwanda Nogemane (Eastern Cape),
Luthando Jack (Eastern Cape), Andile Ndevu (Western Cape), Siphiwe
Sithole (Gauteng), Thabo Spampool (Gauteng), Doctor Azwitamisi
Nthangeni (Gauteng), Eric Sithole (KwaZulu/Natal), Suren Maharaj
(Gauteng), Sakhiwe Sodo (Eastern Cape), Zandile Kabini (Gauteng),
Gilberto Martins (Gauteng) and Khulile Radu (Eastern Cape) – were
interviewed on Monday for the seven positions on the BSA board.
It is, however, not clear as to how many applications the Ministry of
Sport received from boxing stakeholders before it whittled down the
number of candidates to 12.
The Boxing SA Act of 2001 stipulates that boxing licensees must submit
names of potential candidates to serve in the board of BSA to the Minister of Sport for consideration.
Boxing stakeholders were given until 12 October to submit names of
candidates and their CVs to the Minister of Sport.
Jack, Kabini, Martins and Radu are also members of out the outgoing
board while Sodo was once a board member.
Other members of the outgoing board are Doctor Peter Ngatane, Mzamo
Gumbi and Letlhogonolo Noge-Tungamaria.
