Mamelodi Sundowns’ hectic schedule continues as they are going to play
their third game in eight days when they visit Baroka FC in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday (15h00).
This match comes on the back of a Premiership clash against Orlando
Pirates last Saturday and a CAF Champions League encounter against Jwaneng Galaxy from Botswana on Tuesday.
Be that as it may, Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena is not complaining as the Brazilians travel to Polokwane aiming to maintain their unbeaten record.
‘‘The preparations for the Baroka match have been good. I think we are in good space off course this being our third match in eight days. We are happy that we come from a good result,’’ Mokwena said referring to the Brazilians’ 3-1 win over Jwaneng.
‘‘We will make sure that we still get enough freshness and energy to be able to play with intensity. We’ve got to work on that in terms of our recovery processes.
‘‘We are in good space, we are almost getting a clean bill of health.
We are welcoming players back to training. We got to be patient and not rush players into competitive form. We’ve got to integrate them, especially those who come from muscular soft tissue injuries.’’
Meanwhile, Mokwena has analysed Bakgaga’s last match, which was a 2-2 draw with TS Galaxy played at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Tuesday.
‘‘Their last match on Tuesday against TS Galaxy had a lot of changes, eight changes in the starting line-up compared to the match before.
They’ve got very clear game forms in attack, they’ve got good possibilities to develop play in front of the defensive line,’’ he said.
Log-leaders Sundowns – on 21 points – are unbeaten in nine matches having won six times and drawn thrice while eighth-placed Bakgaga have 12 after winning three matches, drawing three and losing three.
After this match the Brazilians are going to face SuperSport United in a Tshwane derby at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Saturday, 16 January. On other hand, Bakgaga are set to play against
high flying Swallows FC after the Sundowns game.
