Chippa United recorded their second win of the DStv Premiership when they beat TS Galaxy 1-0 in a six-pointer played at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Saturday afternoon.
Towering defender Frederic Nsabiyumva scored the all-important goal for the Chilli Boys in the fourth minute.
Prior to this victory, the Chilli Boys hadn’t recorded a win in almost three months having last won when they beat Maritzburg United 3-1 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on 3 November.
The win has taken the Eastern Cape to nine points in 11 matches and have since moved three places from 15th to 12th on the Premiership table
This was coach Daniel ‘Dance’ Malesela’s first win since he returned to the Chilli Boys after the festive season. The Chilli Boys have won one, drawn one and lost one match under Malesela.
On the other hand, it was not a good start for new Rockets coach Owen da Gama, who joined the side just less than a week ago.
Next up for the Chilli Boys is a match against Swallows FC at the Dobsonville Stadium next Wednesday.
