Chippa United defender-cum-midfielder Ayabulela Konqobe is happy the Chilli Boys stole a point when they drew 1-1 with high-flying Swallows FC at the Dobsonville Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Konqobe, who rejoined the Chilli Boys from Finnish club Ekenäs last Friday, was playing his first match for the Port Elizabeth club since his return.
“The point means a lot us considering the position we are in. We played against a team in number two on the log. A very strong team, we showed them no respect, we were confident,” Konqobe said.
Konqobe joined the action in the 18th minute after Chilli Boys coach Daniel ‘Dance’ Malesela substituted Ryan Rae.
“That was a tactical change. I would like to say my performance was good in my first game back in the PSL,” Konqobe said.
The Chilli Boys are travelling to Venda to face Black Leopards on Saturday and Konqobe is hoping for a good result against Lidoda Duvha.
“The match against Leopards is another tough game away from home. This is another game where we have to fight and come back with points,” said Konqobe.
