The fact that Cape Town City became the first team to beat Lamontville Golden Arrows this season is not the only thing that left Citizens coach Jan Olde Riekering a happy man.
The Dutchman is also happy because his boys staged a come back and beat Arrows 4-2 at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Goals for the Citizens were scored by Craig Martin, Taariq Fielies, Mduduzi Mdantsane and Fagrie Lakay while Velemseni Ndwandwe and Knox Mutizwa were on target for Abafana Bes’thende.
And as a result of the win, the Citizens have moved two places from sixth to fourth on the DStv Premiership table.
“I’m very happy with the results. The biggest quality we showed is that we are a team not to go down easily. We started very well in the first 20 minutes. We dominated the game and scored a goal, after that we gave it away,” Riekerink said.
“Compliments to Arrows, they have a dynamic and good team. They scored the two goals, you can say from set-pieces. We bounced back and we are very proud.”
Next up for the Citizens is an away clash against Baroka FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday while Arrows are going to face Maritzburg United in a KwaZulu-Natal derby at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday.
