That Kaizer Chiefs have not won a trophy in many seasons is not sitting well with Amakhosi players.
It is the no wonder that Chiefs players wish to have a good run in the Nedbank Cup.
Amakhosi are going face GladAfrica Championship side Richards Bay FC in the first round of the Nedbank Cup at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec on Sunday (17h00).
And Chiefs defender-cum-midfielder Daniel Cardoso as well as Dumisani Zuma fully understand the importance of winning against the KwaZulu-Natal club.
“Amongst us players we have been discussing that we have not won a trophy for quite some time. We need this cup very desperately,” Cardoso said.
Even though he has admitted that he does not know much about their opponents, Cardoso has said that Richards Bay will be hungrier during the match.
“We need to be on top of out game. We just need to be careful going to this game,” he said.
Zuma, meanwhile, is calling for discipline among his teammates if they want to advance to the next round of the competition.
“It’s tricky time for us with games coming thick and fast. It’s gonna be key for us to maintain discipline. It’s difficult to play these teams and we don’t have a lot of information about them. I think we need to stick to our philosophy and play to win,” Zuma said.
