Defending Nedbank Cup champions Mamelodi Sundowns have advanced to the next round of the competition following a 3-2 extra time win over Stellenbosch FC at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Wednesday evening. 
The match went into extra time after the two teams had deadlocked at 2-2 after 90 minutes. 
Sundowns’ Namibian-born striker Peter Shalulile scored a brace with Gaston Sirino scoring the other goal. Stellies’ goals came from Ashley du Preez and Phathutshedzo Nange. 
Stellies were the first to score through Due Preez in the 12th minute. However, Stellies’ lead was cancelled by Shalulile’s goal five minutes later. 
Sirino added a second one for Sundowns during added time. But Nange spoilt everything for Sundowns when he equalised sending the match to extra time. 
Shalulile, a former Highlands Park striker, completed his brace in the 117th minute.
