Former world heavyweight champion Leon Spinks has succumbed to prostate cancer.
He was 67.
The former World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion lost a five-year prostate cancer battle on Friday.
Spinks shook the boxing world when he defeated the late Muhammad Ali on 15 February 1978 to win both the WBA and WBC belts. Ali avenged the defeat seven months later.
The 1976 Olympic gold medallist, who was born in Missouri in the United States, lost to Larry Holmes in a WBC heavyweight fight on 12 June 1981.
He attempted to win another world title, but lost to Muhammad Qawi on 22 March 1986.
