Chippa United’s longest serving player Andile Mbenyane is desperate for yet another win as the Chilli Boys are going to face Bloemfontein Celtic in a DStv Premiership fixture at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Mangaung on Saturday (15h00).
The Chilli Boys are battling to move up the Premiership standings and Mbenyane believes that a win over Phunya Sele Sele would go a very long way in their quest to climb up the ladder.
Currently, the Chilli Boys are 13th on Premiership standings with 13 points from 14 matches compared to Celtic, who are ninth with 17 points from 15 games.
“It’s gonna be a tough game. Celtic play a running game. I saw how they played against SuperSport (United). They didn’t give them a chance. It’s really important for us to win this game against Celtic or at least get a draw. They are playing at home in inland and we come from the coast,” Mbenyane said.
Mbenyane, who will celebrate his 33rd birthday in March, was one of the Chilli Boys’ scorers during their 2-2 draw with GladAfrica Championship side Free State Stars in a Nedbank Cup first round match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth last Sunday. The Chilli Boys won 4-3 on penalties.
“We know what we have to do. We are looking forward to the game. We want to win this match and close our first round of the season with 16 points,” Mbenyane said.
