Unbeaten Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga is quietly continuing with his preparations for his fight against Filipino opponent Christian Araneta.
Nontshinga and Araneta are scheduled to go toe to toe in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight elimination bout on Sunday, 25 April.
The winner of this bout is guaranteed a shot at IBF junior-flyweight champion Felix Alvarado from Nicaragua.
“So far so good, it’s all I can say about our preparations. We know what we are doing and we are also aware that we still have time to perfect everything,” Nontshinga’s father and trainer Thembani Gopheni said.
“We have watched our opponent’s videos and we know what to expect. We have found out that he is not a tough customer. We expect him to hit us and we will hit him hard.”
The 22-year-old Nontshinga will go to the fight with a perfect record having won all his nine fight with stoppages.
Gopheni is working together with former South African flyweight champion Ncedo Cecane and Mandilakhe Sontlaba.
