Cape Town City held Chippa United to a goalless draw in a DStv Premiership encounter at Mdantsane’s Sisa Dukashe Stadium in East London on Wednesday afternoon.
Both sides tried their utmost best and created a number of goal scoring chances. However, they failed to score in 90 minutes of football.
The Citizens were the first to threaten with Thabo Nodada failing to beat Chilli Boys goalkeeper Ayanda Mtshali during an one-to-one situation in the fifth minute.
The Chilli Boys were forced to make a change before the 30th minute mark. Tumiso Mogakwe replaced an injured Andile Mbenyane in the 29th minute.
In the second half, Ramasimong Malosiane had an opportunity to win the match for the Chilli Boys in the 88th minute. However, his attempt was parried for a corner by Citizens goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh.
The Chilli Boys beat the Citizens 2-1 in a Nedbank Cup second round match played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Sunday.
Next up for the Chilli Boys is a home clash against in-form Orlando Pirates in Gqeberha at 17h00 on Saturday while the Citizens have a date with Stellenbosch FC at 15h00 on the same day.
