Swallows FC’s first loss of the season has proved too costly for the Dube Birds as they have dropped to fourth place on the DStv Premiership standings after losing 2-1 to TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Tuesday evening.
Lindokuhle Mbatha and Bevan Fransman scored for the Rockets while Ruzaigh Galmidien netted for the Dube Birds.
This was also Swallows’ first loss since March last year when they were still campaigning in the GladAfrica Championship.
“I think we were in control nicely for 85 minutes. Then they brought us under pressure. Two moments of madness in five minutes and we got punished,” Swallows coach Brandon Truter said.
Truter is proud of his players despite losing to the Rockets, who came from behind to bag the three points.
“I’m too proud of my boys. We will work and look forward to the next game. We will put this result behind us. It’s almost a year since we lost a game. This is a wake up call to us,” Truter said.
The Dube Birds are going to welcome Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila at the Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday (15h30). Vhadau Vha Damani knocked Swallows out of the Nedbank Cup on penalties last Friday.
“The TTM match we look to turn around the Nedbank Cup loss,” Mitchell’s Plain-born Truter said.
