It was one of the season’s shocking results when Lamontville Golden Arrows succumbed to a 2-1 home defeat to struggling Black Leopards in the first round.
The outcome of that match never sat well with Arrows coach Mandla Ncikazi as they had disappointed their supporters.
However, Abafana Bes’thende got their revenge when they thumped Leopards 3-1 at the Thohoyandou Stadium in a second round match on Sunday. And that result left Ncikazi smiling from ear to ear.
Knox Mutizwa, Brandon Parusnath and Velemseni Ndwandwe scored for Arrows while Lifa Hlongwane netted for Lidoda Duvha.
“Tough match as expected. It’s not easy to come here and get the points. The conditions did not make it easy for us. It was very hot,” Ncikazi said after the match.
“But I thought we dominated in the first half. Unfortunately, we conceded an early goal in the match. But I love the fighting spirit in the team. We didn’t give up after conceding early. We kept on fighting and came back 1-1. I thought in the second half we dropped the line of challenge a bit until we scored the second goal. I’m just proud that we got the three points.”
Abafana Bes’thende are going to remain in Limpopo as they have a match against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Wednesday (17h00).
On the other hand, Lidoda Duvha are travelling to Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit for a date with TS Galaxy on Wednesday (17h00).
