Two boxers who felt the sting of Nkosinathi ‘Mabhere’ Joyi’s vicious blows are going to meet in East London on Friday, 30 April.
Former South African junior-flyweight champion Nhlanhla Tyirha and Joey Canoy from the Philippines face each other in a vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) Intercontinental junior-flyweight title contest at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in East London.
Tyirha lost to Joyi in a World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa junior-flyweight titlw fight in April 2019. Joyi beat Canoy when they fought for the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) mini-flyweight title in December 2019.
On the other hand, Joyi is going to defend his IBO mini-flyweight belt against Ayanda Ndulani from Scenery Park on the same bill.
Meanwhile, Nwabisile Cholani from Plettenberg Bay in the Western Cape and Mthatha’s Siphamandla Baleni are going to fight for the vacant SA junior-flyweight crown.
The tournament is going to be promoted by Ayanda Matiti’s Xaba Promotions.
