Maloisane Mokhele knows the importance of winning Tuesday’s match against Baroka FC in Chippa United’s quest to move up the DStv Premiership standings.
The Chilli Boys midfielder is expected to play a key role when they face Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha at 15h00 on Tuesday.
The Eastern Cape club go to the match against Bakgaga just a few days after they reached the final of the Nedbank Cup following a 1-0 win over GladAfrica Championship side Pretoria Callies in Atteridgeville last Saturday.
“We are very happy in the camp because we are being motivated by reaching the final. The game is very important to us, we want to win it. We really need to win it because we are not in a good position on the log,” Mokhele said.
“If we win the game we are gonna have 20 points. Every game from now on is important to us because we want to run away from the relegation zone. We are working as a team. We are helping each other to make things happen.”
The Chilli Boys, who have not won a league match since their 3-0 victory over Black Leopards in January, are 15th on the Premiership table with 17 points from 22 matches after they won thrice, drawn eight times and lost 11 games. Bakgaga, on the other hand, are 11th with 24 points from five victories, nine stalemates and eighth defeats.
