Team work remains the most important aspect in veteran Chippa United midfielder Kurt Lentjies’ football career.
Lentjies will apply the same philosophy when the Chilli Boys clash with Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in a six-pointer at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Wednesday (17h00).
This is a must-win match for both sides as they attempt to avoid finishing in a play-off spot. The Chilli Boys are 15th on the DStv Premiership table with 25 points from 28 games while Vhadau Vha Damani are two places above them with 29 points in 28 matches.
This is going to be Lehlohonolo Seema’s first match in charge since he returned to the Chilli Boys following the sacking of Vladislav Heric two weeks ago.
“Luckily, we had a couple of days to work with the coach. It’s good for us. We had time to understand his philosophy and the way he wants us to play. Obviously, performance is not that important, results are very important more than anything else,” Lentjies said.
The Mitchell’s Plain-born midfielder fully understands that TTM also want to win this match.
“The only plan we have is to get the three points. We know our situation. We have two ‘cup finals’ coming up. Let’s focus on TTM, we need to win,” he said.
“Now it’s not about personal goals and glory. It’s just about the team. It has always been like that for me. I don’t look at my own performance. I always look at how I can make the team better.”
The Chilli Boys are going to wrap up the season with a home clash against SuperSport United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Saturday (15h00).
