Sunny ‘Showtime’ Edwards from the United Kingdom is going to make a mandatory title defence against Filipino boxer Jayson ‘Smasher’ Mama.
The International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight champion and Mama are set to clash at the Copper Box Arena in London on Saturday, 11 September.
This is going to be the first time the 25-year-old Edwards defends his belt since dethroning former champion Moruti Mthalane in April this year.
The September fight pits two unbeaten boxers as Edwards has won all his 16 fights with four of them via the short distance. On the other hand, 24-year-old Mama has stopped nine of his 16 victims.
This shootout between the two boxers is going to be promoted by Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions.
