South African athlete Akani Simbine is through to the final of the 100 metres at the Tokyo Olympics in Japan.
Simbine, who came fourth in the semi-finals, qualified for the final by virtue of having one of the best times after clocking 9.90 seconds on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Simbine’s compatriots Gift Leotlela and Phathutshedzo Maswanganyi failed to make it to the final, which starts at 14h50 on Sunday.
Leotlela finished fourth clocking 10.03secs in the first semi-final while Maswanganyi finished sixth in 10.10secs.
