Hugo Broos does not think Bafana Bafana are ready yet even though he believes that they are going to be ready by the time they clash against Zimbabwe on Friday.
The Bafana Bafana coach is going to lead the South African national team for the first time when they face the Zimbabwe Warriors in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the National Sports Stadium in Harare at 15h00. Bafana Bafana will then come up against Ghana at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec at 18h00 on Monday.
“I don’t think they are ready. I think they are going to be ready for Friday, that’s for sure. I think they work very hard, they are very good,” Broos said.
With the Warriors game going to be his first in charge, the former Cameroon national team coach is concerned about the mental side of Bafana Bafana.
“The mental side of the game. I know that Zimbabwe will wait for us to beat us. It will be tough. I hope that my team will be ready,” he said.
Meanwhile, the 69-year-old Belgian has insisted that Mamelodi Sundowns’ Mothobi Mvala remains part of his team even though he’s got a groin strain. As cover, Broos has called Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo.
“He stays with the group. He goes with us to Zimbabwe,” the 2017 Africa Cup Of Nations-winning coach said.
