Clyde Azarcon from the Philippines will finally come to South Africa after his previous trips to the country were cancelled.
Azarcon is going to fight against former South African and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) minimumweight champion Simphiwe Konkco in a 10-round bout at the Booysens Boxing Gym on Sunday, 10 October.
Initially, Azarcon was due to face Thembani Okolo in Gqeberha in April. The fight was then moved to June before it got postponed to October. It was then cancelled something which opened the way for him to accept the Konkco fight.
This is going to be Konkco’s first fight since his loss in a World Boxing Council (WBC) minimumweight title contest against Thai boxer Chayaphon Moonsri also known as Wanheng Menayothin Kaiyanghada in October 2019.
Azarcon, who is trained by Christopher Tepora at the Big Yellow Boxing Gym in Cebu City in the Philippines, has not fought since his win over Mike Kinaadman in March last year.
