Matchroom has finally confirmed Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile’s fight against Japanese boxer Kenichi Ogawa.
Fuzile and Ogawa clash in a vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-lightweight contest at the Hulu Theatre, Madison Square Garden, in New York City, United States, on Saturday, 27 November (Sunday, 28 November South African time).
Fuzile earned the right to fight for the world title after he stopped Briton Martin Ward in Las Vegas in May.
Initially, Ogawa was scheduled to fight against Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov from Tajikistan for the same title in the United Arab Emirates in August. But the fight got postponed after the Tajik picked up an injury.
Sensing that it was going to take longer for Rakhimov to recover from the injury, the IBF ordered the fight between Fuzile and Ogawa.
This fight is on the undercard of the clash between American Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Junior from Australia.
Lopez will be making the first defence of his World Boxing Association (WBA) ‘Super’, IBF, World Boxing Organisation (WBO) and The Ring lightweight crowns. Lopez defeated Vasiliy Lomachenko in October last year.
The 24-year-old Lopez has won all his 16 bouts with 12 of those via the short distance while Kamboo Jr, 28, has stopped 10 of his victims.
