The Proteas succumbed to Mohammed Shami’s explosive bowling as they were bowled out for only 197 runs on the third day of the first Test against India in Centurion on Tuesday.

Temba Bavuma was the only Protea who had what could be called a decent score as he knocked 52 while Quinton de Kock scored 34 runs.

Fast bowler Shami, who is 31 years old, led the Indians’ bowling attack taking five wickets for 44 in the process.

Meanwhile, India were 16/1 at stumps after Marco Jansen had claimed Mayank Agarwal’s wicket. KL Rahul, who hit a century in India’s first innings, was on five and Shardul Thakur on four.
