Olympic gold medallist Wayde van Niekerk has withdrawn from the South African Senior National Championships set to start at the Greenpoint Athletics Stadium in Cape Town on Thursday morning.
Van Niekerk informed Athletics South Africa (ASA) on Wednesday evening about his withdrawal from the meet, which will end on Saturday.
The 29-year-old Kraaifontein-born 400-metre world record holder was scheduled to represent Boland in the 200-metre race.
