Stephen Mokoka won the Cape Town Marathon in wet conditions in the Mother City on Sunday morning. 

The 36-year-old Mokoka raced home in 2:09:58 followed by Gebru Redahgne from Ethiopia and Lesotho’s Ramakongoana in third place. Mahikeng-born Mokoka won the same race in 2018.

Meanwhile, Lydia Naliaka Simiyu from Kenya romped home in the women’s race in 2:25:41 followed by Lucy Karimi and Aynalem Teferi in third position. 

The 25-year-old Simiyu ran the fastest time in a women’s race in South Africa.
