The death of Lunga ‘The Pressure Cooker’s Sitemela’s grandmother has not slowed him down on his preparations for his fight against Sibusiso Zingange.
Even when he arrived at his Dordrecht home in the Eastern Cape on Friday for Saturday’s funeral, Sitemela did all his duties and then off he went for a jog as he wanted to keep himself in good shape.
Dordrecht-born Sitemela, who turns 32 in June, is due to challenge South African junior-lightweight champion Zingange in Johannesburg on Thursday, 26 May.
“We will continue to train very hard because Zingange is a good and powerful boxer. I’m still here in the Eastern Cape for my late grandmother’s funeral, which is on Saturday. I trained in Cape Town on Thursday and will continue with my training when I get back there on Monday,” Sitemela said.
Zingange from Boksburg will be making the first defence of the title he captured when he outpointed Phila Mpontshane in Johannesburg two months ago.
Meanwhile, Sitemela will be fighting for the first time since his loss to Tajik boxer Muhammadkhuja Yaqubov in a World Boxing Council (WBC) International junior-lightweight title fight at the RCC Boxing Academy in Ekaterinburg, Russia, in March last year.
