Mamelodi Sundowns are showing an early intent to successfully defend their DStv Premiership title as they registered their fourth win in four matches after they beat Chippa United 2-0 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Saturday evening.

After holding on for more than half an hour, the Chilli Boys’ defence was breached when Aubrey Modiba gave the Tshwane giants the lead in the 36th minute from a Themba Zwane pass.

The Brazilians increased their lead after Chilli Boys defender Justice Chabalala’s own goal while he was trying to clear a cross from Lucas Ribeiro Costa five minutes before half-time.

Meanwhile, AmaZulu and Richards Bay FC played to a goalless draw in a KwaZulu-Natal derby at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban in an earlier match.
