Former national champion Sabelo ‘Zwai’ Ngebiyana has applied for a Boxing South Africa (BSA) licence after he turned his back on the regulatory body and the country during the 2023/24 financial year.

Unhappy with some stuff happening at BSA at the time, the former South African junior-bantamweight title holder ditched the country and applied for a boxing licence in Tanzania last term.

“I have applied for a BSA licence. At least, things have changed now. I wanna be licensed here at home now, not in Tanzania anymore,” Ngebiyana said.

Interestingly, Komani-born Ngebiyana has not fought on South African soil in almost two years. His last fight in SA was a win in an eight rounds bout against Mzuvukile ‘Old Bones’ Magwaza at The Galleria, Sandton, in Johannesburg in July 2022.
