A ‘fight’ between Mlandeli Tengimfene and the Boxing South Africa (BSA) ratings committee ended with the East London-based manager’s hand being raised in victory.

Tengimfene took on the ratings committee and prevailed after his boxer Lwando Mgabi was dropped from third to fourth position despite winning his fight last month.

“I will never fold my arms while my boxers are being abused by people who abuse their powers. I will always fight for my boxers whenever I see that an injustice has been meted out on them,” an obvious happy Tengimfene remarked.

And not only has Tengimfene won this round, he also ensured that Mgabi fights for the SA junior-bantamweight title as he’s now back at number three while Sechaba Zuma whom he stopped in the fifth round three months ago has been dropped from first to fourth spot in the ratings.

After attributing the ratings problem to a ‘human error’, BSA assured Tengimfene that Mgabi, who lost his crown on the scales before he fought against Zuma at the Estcourt Town Hall, KwaZulu-Natal, would face the winner of the vacant SA junior-bantamweight title fight between Ntethelelo Magcaba and Moyisi Booi.

Magcaba, who is rated number one in the junior-bantamweight division, clashes with number two-rated Booi at the Orient Theatre in East London on Sunday, 28 September.

Contacted for comment, BSA chief executive officer Tsholofelo Lejaka said: “Boxing SA can confirm that the matter was amicable resolved and all parties are happy with the resolution.” – Monwabisi Jimlongo

  1. I’m requesting rating-based board to watch the full videos of the fights before loading and rankings to avoid complain and be fair in boxing and RJ stop robbery for boxers.

I will be happy when my request is considered 👏
